A drop leg, or thigh, holster hangs from the belt and straps to the thigh. It lowers the gun below body armor, plate carriers and duty gear, where a belt holster would be blocked.

Who uses drop leg holsters
- Law enforcement and military wearing armor or vests.
- Hunters carrying a pack with a hip belt.
- Tactical training and some competition.
What to look for
- Active retention, since the gun is exposed.
- A leg strap that stays put without cutting circulation.
- Adjustable drop height to clear gear.
